Frequently asked questions
Search the answers below. If you cannot find what you need, contact us with the app version and a short description of the issue.
How do I start a record?
Open Lumen and tap the Record button. Choose Headache, Symptoms, Medication, or Preventive treatment. A headache or symptom record can remain active until you choose End. Optional details can be added later.
How do I edit or delete a record?
Open History, select the day, and tap the record. Choose Edit record to change it. Delete record is at the bottom of the edit screen and removes the record from the timeline, insights, and reports.
What is a daily review?
A daily review lets you confirm a headache-free day or record symptoms and background context. Each factor can be Yes, No, or Unknown. Unknown is never treated as No in Lumen's comparisons.
Do Insights diagnose a cause?
No. Insights show possible associations in the context you recorded. Lumen does not diagnose conditions, predict attacks, recommend treatment, or claim that a factor caused a symptom. Results remain limited until there are enough known headache and confirmed headache-free days.
How do I create a doctor-ready report?
Open Reports, choose a date range, review the preview, and tap Create and share PDF. The PDF is generated on your device. You choose where to share or save it; Lumen does not upload the file.
How do I restore my Lumen Plus purchase?
Open Settings, choose Lumen Plus, and tap Restore purchases. Make sure you are signed in with the Apple Account used for the purchase. If the purchase is still missing, contact Apple Support or email us with your receipt details. Never send your Apple Account password.
How do subscriptions and the free trial work?
Lumen Plus is available as a monthly or annual auto-renewable subscription. The annual plan includes a 7-day free trial. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, Apple will charge the subscription price. Manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings under your Apple Account.
Why did a reminder not arrive?
Check Settings in Lumen and then iOS Settings > Notifications > Lumen. Confirm that notifications are allowed, a review time is set, and Focus or a scheduled summary is not delaying the notification. Lumen uses local notifications and does not send health details to a server.
How does optional iCloud sync work?
iCloud sync is off by default. When enabled, Lumen stores an encrypted journal snapshot in your private iCloud database and keeps local records available if sync is paused. If iCloud is unavailable, your local records are not deleted. You can turn sync off in Settings.
Can I export or delete all my data?
Yes. Settings includes JSON and CSV export. You can also delete all local Lumen data after a confirmation phrase. Export first if you need a copy. Deletion is not reversible from inside the app.
Is Lumen an emergency or medical service?
No. Lumen is a self-tracking tool and is not a substitute for medical care. For sudden, severe, new, or alarming symptoms, contact a qualified healthcare professional or your local emergency service.

Privacy and medical boundaries
Lumen is designed for self-tracking. Records are stored on your device by default; optional iCloud sync uses your private iCloud account. Lumen does not diagnose, recommend medication or dosage, provide emergency triage, include advertising SDKs, or sell health data.
